When a Boy Found a Familiar Feel in a Pat of the Head of State - NYT

This photo and the accompanying story ran in yesterday's NYTimes. I found the photo so powerful. The boy wanted to know if the President's hair felt the same as his own. The President bowed down and told the boy to see for himself. This gesture says so much about the man. I love it.

What I'm reading...the books I took out of the Chicago Public Library today
The Chicago Public Library is fantastic. I thought that after I started using my Kindle Fire that my library visits would slow down, but that hasn't been the case. I simply can't afford to buy every book that I want to read. I keep a constant flow of library books circulating in my apartment. These are my current selections:
Hungry Ghosts: Mao's Secret Famine, by Jasper Becker
The Lifeboat: A Novel, by Charlotte Rogan
Gershwin Prize - Stevie Wonder sings "Alfie" - Burt Bacharach award ceremony - PBS
Does it get any better than Stevie Wonder playing Alfie on the harmonica? Amazing.
Solar Eclipse - compilation of photos by Cory Poole

I took this shot in October of 2005. That was the year that the White Sox won the World Series, when Barack Obama was a U.S. Senator from Illinois. I went to the ticker-tape parade that Chicago held to honor the White Sox victory. It got a little too crowded for me, so I took a side street and Barack Obama happened to be walking by at the same time. There was a woman next to me urging him to run for president; he broke into his famous smile when she said that.
